Omg, I don’t even know where to start there are so many amazing places to eat out. So it can be a hustle to choose where to eat. Me and my friends like to joke about it and call it the Canggu problem. Cause Bali and Canggu especially is food heaven. Canggu has one of the best restaurants in Bali and one of the best Bali food. Honestly, it might be the most Instagrammable place on the Earth. With so many healthy options that are just Instagram ready. But brace yourself not only does the food look amazing it also tastes delicious. And no special requests or dietary restrictions are an issue. Plus the staff is super friendly and always welcoming you with a smile on their faces.
Having lived in Bali for over a year now, I have eaten out at so many Canggu restaurants and its neighboring areas. I come in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’m what they would call a foodie. There are only a few things that I like to do more than eat food. So it will come as no surprise that I’m actually quite a good cook and baker myself. Don’t wanna brag tho 😄🙈. However, ever since I’ve moved to Bali I rarely cook and I bitch about it, but cannot be bothered to go through the hustle of getting all the ingredients (which in Bali can be pretty expensive, especially western food) when the food here is so cheap.
I have put together Guide to Top Canggu Restaurants and Cafes, where you will find all the knowledge bombs about the best cafes and restaurants in Canggu. The guide is divided into four neighborhoods in Canggu with each listing the best places to eat out. It also includes the apps that you absolutely must have both if you wanna eat out and eat in. Trust me they will make your life slightly easier and less stressful. And that’s what we all want, right? 😉
CANGGU RESTAURANTS – BERAWA
NUDE IN CANGGU
Nude in Canggu is one of my to-go Canggu restaurants whenever I crave a burger. They used to have charcoal buns, which were super cool, but unfortunately, they don’t have them anymore 😞. What a shame. Besides having delicious burgers they also have tasty salads!
It is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, you can choose from a wide selection of healthy bowls and savory meals such as smashed avocado with poached eggs, salmon bagel, omelet, break burrito and more.
Both for lunch and dinner you can choose from burgers, wraps, and salads. For dinner, you can also have beef steak, caribbean chicken and many more.
I like to come there especially when I wanna be productive, get shit done 💪🏼 and have a really good coffee! It is a nice option if you don’t want to or don’t like to do coworking, but don’t want to spend your whole day in your villa either, and if you like the convenience of having your food /snack just an order away.
The whole place is very Insta friendly. They have both AC indoor sitting and outdoor sitting with fans. Not many Canggu restaurants and cafes do have indoor sitting with an AC. So it is a big plus. I prefer it especially on hot Bali days and during the rainy season.
MILK AND MADU
Milk and Madu is the place to be especially on Tuesday and Sunday evenings when it is 2 for 1 pizza. All of their pizzas are lava stone baked giving it the right amount of crispy and smokey flavor. My favorite pizza is defo Pipeline in the GF option. Besides pizzas, they also make wraps, burgers, salads, steaks and many more. During breakfast, they serve smoothie bowls, eggs, sandwiches and etc. But most importantly, they have their own coffee brew known as Beans by the Brotherhood.
The restaurant is located in the uber-popular Berawa neighborhood in Canggu and is nestled under a traditional open structure with a small garden. Milk and Madu is a kid and family-friendly with toys and books to share. Additionally, on weekends they feature live music.
It is part of The Good Food Brotherhood featuring other Canggu restaurants such as Watercress, Milk & Madu, Ulekan Bali, The Common, Bangkok Hustle and Shmurger Burger.
MILU BY NOOK
Honestly, I just love Milu By Nook. The restaurant is nestled in a tropical garden overlooking rice paddies. It has a very chilled and positive vibe. Thus, it is an ideal place for lunch and dinner dates. Make sure to try their Indonesian currys and nasi campur they are to die for. Though, my personal favorites are Thai chili basil chicken and Balinese roasted chicken. They’re da best. However, don’t be mistaken tho, it is a great place for breakfast too. They offer a wide variety of Smoothie bowls, bagels, and sandwiches. And also the usuals such as omelet, eggs benny, porridge and many more.
Besides kick-ass food, Milu has also a cafe boutique on the premises with a lovely selection of Bali style homewares and other household accessories. The restaurant is located in Berawa, a super popular neighborhood in Canggu, which is booming with cafes and restaurants.
Macan located in trendy Berawa neighborhood is one of my favorite Canggu restaurants. It is an amazing hangout spot combining chic yet cozy design with delicious meals. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant is owned by French. They serve a wide selection of western meals with my favorite being beef carpaccio, gourmet cheeseburger, half roasted baby chicken. Besides lunch and dinner, they also serve breakfast with classics such as eggs Benedict, omelet, and smoothie bowls. On top of that, the staff is very friendly and provides great service.
I just love Rituals Coffee because it has such a cool vibe with a work-friendly atmosphere. There’s an AC room with a few tables, which is a kind of a rarity in Bali. They have a kick-ass coffee and delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. Oftentimes, I come here after my CrossFit WODs. My favorite breakfast dish is without discussion smashed avo with poached eggs and bacon and eggs benny.
Sprout iss easily one of my favorite breakfast places and Canggu restaurants. It is located in ever so popular Berawa. It has a slightly rustic vibe with a relaxed vibe. They use Empirical coffee which is sourced from Indonesian and South American growers and roasted in Bali. Therefore, their coffee is spot on. My favorite one is a cold brew. It might be even better than my favorite Bootstrap cold brew coffee that I regularly buy in Pepito.
Besides kick-ass coffee, they offer a wide selection of dishes made with fresh ingredients. In their selection, you will find goodies such as breakfast baguette, buckwheat pancakes, smashed avocado, eggs on toast, and other healthy options.
Cinta is also one of my favorite breakfast places. It is located in the trending Canggu neighborhood of Berawa. The restaurant has chilled vibes with a lovely view of rice paddies. Besides the view, they have a great coffee and on top of that their food tastes delicious. For example, my favorite meals are eggs florentine, cintas avocado, and healthy avocado. In addition to being a great breakfast place, it is also a great place for lunch, dinner, and snacks.
It is one of my favorite coffee shops in Bali. They serve their own Indonesian house blend of coffee. And each month they feature a single origin special which they source from all over the world. Hence, you can bet the coffee is good. At Ruko Cafe they serve breakfast and lunch. However, I see it more as a breakfast or snack place rather than a lunch place. They make awesome charcoal galaxy bowl, which might be my favorite smoothie bowl on the island. Not only does the charcoal make it black but it is so freaking good. Besides the smoothie bowl, I absolutely love their veggie omelet.
Hungry Bird is the perfect place for breakfast and coffee. They offer a vast selection of meals at very affordable prices. So you get what you pay for. The food is more like homemade food. It is nothing fancy and the presentation is average. In addition, it gets busy around breakfast time. However, the food comes out quickly and consistently, which can be a rarity in Bali. They have their own blend. Hence, their coffee is very good.
The staff is nice and friendly and overall the atmosphere is very laid back. There’s both outdoor and indoor seating with an AC.
They have vegan and vegetarian options. However, they don’t have many gluten-free options. I like to come here when I feel like I’m craving homemade food. When there try their oatmeal porridge for 27k IDR or make your own omelet and go for a flat white for 25k IDR. Compared to other places in Canggu, these prices are unbelievably cheap.
CROSSFIT WANDERLUST CAFE
As the name suggests it is an in house cafe of CrossFit Wanderlust. It’s a great place to start your day with a delicious yet affordable breakfast, to have a pre-workout or post-workout meal, and to have lunch.
When you are there you gotta try their The Drisk, Protein Waffles and Protein Pancakes they are one of the best you can find in Bali and one for the best price. The Drisk is a protein-packed meal of eggs, bacon, avocado, and bread. Besides great meals for good value, they also carry kick-ass coffee and a killer bulletproof coffee. On display, you can also find goodies from Motion Cafe and Macro Kitchen.
WHERE TO STAY IN BERAWA?
LUXURY – The Kemilau Hotel & Villa Canggu – all rooms are airy and spacious and are fully equipped. Each has a private bathroom. The rooms feature modern and chic design. In addition, the accommodation offers an outdoor swimming pool and a 24-hour front desk. Guests can enjoy continental or à la carte breakfast on-site.
MID-PRICE – De Umah Berawa – offers fully equipped rooms with AC and mini-fridge. In addition, a shared garden, terrace, and a 24-hour front desk are available on-site. Above all, the accommodation has a perfect location with the beach and numerous Canggu restaurants and cafes within walking distance.
BUDGET – Kent Beach House – features fully equipped rooms with a private bathroom. In addition, there’s a shared lounge, kitchen and outdoor swimming pool on-site. But most importantly, the accommodation has a very strategic location within walking distance to many restaurants and the Berawa beach.
CANGGU RESTAURANTS – BATU BOLONG
Motion Cafe is one of my favorite cafes on the island with so many healthy options and food menu to satisfy everyone’s dietary needs. Be it paleo, keto, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc. But most importantly all of their food is 100% fresh, whole foods, organic, without additives and refined sugar.
Their protein waffle is to die for. You can choose your protein, base, and toppings. I usually go for whey protein, cassava flour, coconut yogurt, and berries. So freaking delicious. They also make sweet potato waffles with cassava flour and selection of sweet and savory toppings. I personally like the Nutella spread with berries, yes I change the banana with berries. Cause you know calories. Maybe I’ll have it GO-JEKed because writing about it makes me wanna have one.
Besides the waffles, they make kickass salads. You gotta try Paleo Beef & Avocado Salad it is SO good. Or Mega Chicken Salad! Unlike other salads, they will not leave you starving. Additionally, they have a wide selection of healthy sweets and snacks. All of which are homemade, gluten-free, dairy-free, and without refined sugar.
Great things about Motion is that they do have a macro breakdown of their meals. You have to ask them for it tho and it is not complete. However, still quite convenient if you do macro counting. Plus when you order on GO-JEK or Motion Delivery you can ask them to put each ingredient separately so you can easily measure it at home.
They also do Meal Plans. They offer a wide range of delicious meals such as Paleo, Ketogenic, Alkaline, Shredding, Detox and more, delivered straight to your door. For more info check their website.
Oh, and most importantly they have one of the nicest and friendliest staff ever. Always very welcoming and attentive. They even remember my special requests and favorites.
Honestly, this nordic inspired cafe might be my all-time favorite place in Bali. I love to come here both for breakfast and to get shit done. It has a very productive vibe. And as it is located on Jl. Padanglinjong, it is not overly loud and it has just the right amount of white noise. Also, it is part of my Sunday routine. I come here pretty much every single Sunday before the ecstatic dance in Udara.
The thing I love the most about Copenhagen Canggu is that you can mix and match your meals. Now you might be wondering what I mean by that. Well in Copenhagen you will get a list of food groups (bakery, eggs, fruit & greens, dairy, meat & fish, and sweets) with multiple options that you can choose from to fit your appetite. Essentially, you have the option to choose from three items, five items or add a single item.
Besides kick-ass meals, they also have a kick-ass coffee. With my favorite being flat white with almond milk and ice americano with a bit of almond milk on the side. Oh, and it’s no secret that they have the best cinnamon rolls on the island. Moreover, their croissant is the next level too. However, the best one I’ve had in Bali was in Monsieur Spoon.
Vida Cafe is the place to go when you wanna eat organic and locally produced whole food. In all of their food, they do not use any chemicals, palm oil, refined sugar, wheat flour or MSG. Yet, their food tastes fantastic! Plus they have a really friendly staff.
The cafe is strategically located on Batu Balong. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They serve healthy meals, raw gluten-free cakes, Ubud Raw Chocolate, locally roasted coffee, juices, and healing probiotic fermented elixirs. When you are there you have to try Summer Salad with organic chicken. It is so good! Defo one of our favorites! Surprisingly they also have really good burgers. I like their Beef Burger.
CLEAR CAFE CANGGU
Clear Cafe is the place to go when you wanna eat clean healthy foods and don’t mind not having poultry, beef or pork as your source of protein. That is to say, the cafe is primarily vegetarian and vegan. I oftentimes joke that this is the only place where I could go vegan for a day. Because their food is just so good. But most importantly, they use only natural ingredients grown locally by Balinese farmers that they personally know and trust.
The restaurant is very nice and cozy with a very comfortable vibe. Also, the staff is very friendly and hospitable. They have a slide and pole inside. So when you leave the restaurant you can have a little fun and slide down. Oh and the restaurant has no shoe policy, so you will be asked to leave your shoes at the entrance. So cool, dunno about you but I find it very cozy and homey.
When you are there you have to get the mint water. It is the next level. Moreover, their coconut mylk shake made of cashew nut milk and homemade vegan coconut ice cream is just heaven. Tastes like a bar bounty, only it’s clean with natural ingredients. And from food, hmm, you gotta try it all. Haha but honestly, it’s so difficult to pick just a few meals! But if I had to choose I’d say go for their burrito, tom yam kai, and raw lasagne.
I’m not gonna lie, in my opinion, this is the best Canggu restaurant when it comes to vegan and vegetarian meals.
MOANA FISH EATERY
Moana Fish Eatery is a Polynesian styled restaurant in Canggu. As the name suggest it is the place to go if you’re craving fish and seafood. Their food is always fresh and reasonably priced for the quality of fish you get. They carry a wide selection of fish and seafood dishes. My personal favorite is the Maui Poke bowl with fresh square tuna, a mix of veggies and white or brown rice served with black or golden sauce. But I also enjoy Tahiti Sashimi, a freshly sliced tuna served with homemade sauce and salad on the side.
I personally don’t enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant so most of the time I get my food GO-JEKed. However, in terms of quality, this is as good as seafood in Canggu restaurants gets.
BLACK SAND BREWERY
Black Sand Brewery is one of the latest additions to Canggu restaurants that has been born out of a passion for a good beer. The brewery offers freshly brewed, unfiltered, unpasteurized brews with zero additives. In all of their brews, they use only the finest ingredients and essentials such as malt. hops, yeast, and water. Besides beer, they also offer delicious meals such as pizzetas, steaks, seafood and sharing plates. Their kick-ass burgers might be the best in Bali. Honestly, it means a lot coming from me. I have a major thing for burgers.
On top of that, the brewery has an amazing setting, overlooking the serene greenery of the rice paddies.
To be completely honest with you, I find it very difficult to find decent Mexican food here. Yes, there’s Lola’s, Two fingers, Taco Casa…. but none of them do have really good and tasty dishes. That’s where La Bandida comes into the picture. It is definitely my favorite Mexican place in Bali. I love their Fajita bowl and tacos, especially the carne o plum taco and cochinita taco. In addition, they make great margaritas and sangrias.
Additionally, at La Bandida they love them specials. Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12 pm – 3 pm they have some of their favorite dishes at a special price along with drinks. Every Tuesday they have all of their burgers at 55k.
THE LOFT CANGGU
The Loft is the place if you want to take a nice picture for Instagram. It is the Sister cafe of Bondi busiest cafe Vida Surf. It is located in the center of Batu Bolong and you cannot miss its sign “You’ll see it when you believe in it.” located on the outside wall. You can sit by and take a picture.
They have a wide selection of food both for non-vegans and vegans. The menu offers a variety of meals from burgers, bowls, pasta to waffles. Upon request gluten-free options are available. Among drinks, you will find coffee, smoothies, juices as well as teas. When there you might want to try their waffles, eggs benedict and vida bowl.
Crate Cafe is the place to go if you wanna score that Instagram picture. The place is located in Batu Bolong over rice paddies. It has an industrial vibe. Next, to the main building you can find a lounge, which tends to be quieter and the seating there is comfier.
They have a wide selection of food with an outstanding presentation. The food is good for a good value, but nothing too exciting tho. However, the portions are very big.
Be aware that the cafe only accepts cash and doesn’t offer table service. You can easily wait in a huge line for a dozen minutes and when you finally order you might not be able to find a free table. Not great if you want to have a chilled meal and not worry about anything.
WHERE TO STAY IN BATU BOLONG?
LUXURY – Aston Canggu Beach Resort – is ultimately the best place to stay in Batu Bolong! You would hardly find a place like this for this money in this area. All rooms feature modern design and come fully equipped. Each room comes with a private bathroom and a terrace or balcony. In addition, the resort features a swimming pool, sun deck, gym, restaurant, and a bar, all with a panoramic view of the sea. Breakfast in the form of a buffet is available on-site.
MID-PRICE – Lemon Guest House – features private rooms in modern design. All units come fully equipped and private bathroom. In addition, there’s a terrace with pool views, a kitchen with a fridge, and a shared swimming pool. American and Asian breakfast is served daily on-site.

The accommodation is located within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Discount for guests is available at the Practice, yoga studio, located 2-min away.
CANGGU RESTAURANTS – PERERENAN
Front Cafe is one of my favorite places in Pererenan and well in Canggu too. It is your typical hipster cafe. So freaking Instagramable. It is so pretty and cozy with really chilled vibes.
They have the best coffee in Bali. They have their very own blend. Therefore, their coffee is so good. Nicely balanced with the right amount of strong. I like to come there just for coffee and to chill. Or to be productive and get shit done.
Besides coffee, they also have really good food. You gotta try their smashed avocado beetroot hummus toast as it might be the best toast avo on the island. So delicious. Plus you might wanna add bacon to get that extra protein. Cause you know eating for those gains. Another to go food would be grilled chicken avocado and pesto sandwich! You can choose a GF option. Either GF potato bread or GF multigrain bread.
They carry a wide selection of pastries with gluten-free options. You have to try their gluten-free croissant made out of banana flour it is so good.
Oh, and they have one of the nicest and friendliest staff ever. Always very attentive.
MONSIEUR SPOON PERERENAN
Monsieur Spoon is located only 5 min walking distance from the Pererenan beach in an upcoming Pererenan neighborhood. It is one of my favorite places in Pererenan as it is relatively quiet with a good Wi-Fi connection and a lovely outdoor sitting area. Ideal for being productive and getting shit done.
You can easily tell that the place is run by the French. Their coffee is spot on because they have their own impeccable home-blend. It might be one of the best on the street. Their handmade bread, cakes pastries are very delicious. As they taste pretty much the same as they would back in France. Honestly, I think their croissant with butter and jam is the best on the island. You would hardly find better elsewhere. Besides pastries, they also serve meals such as salads, granola bowls, super healthy bowl, breakfast burger, eggs your way and many more.
Macro Kitchen is the place to go if you wanna eat clean and healthy! All the meals have a macro breakdown so you know how much carbs, protein, and fat you’re eating! Pretty cool, right? All their menu is gluten-free and they have a plant-based protein option and nut milk option for those who are lactose intolerant.
In all of their meals, they do not use any processed oils and refined sugars, instead, they use cold-pressed coconut and E.V. olive oil. Plus their chicken is organic. Because they believe that quality matters as much as quantity.
Their food is divine! It’s got funny names which will crack you up like F**k u gluten, Cheezilla, Tutti Fruity, Snickerdoodle, Conan the Destroyer, etc. When there you gotta try Tutti Fruity the best protein pancakes in Bali! Honestly, it’s a delicious piece of art! Or make your own meal from a wide selection of Carbz, Proteinz, Fatz and Fibrez!
Oh, and they also sell homemade protein nut butter made by Henem one of the owners! So yummy!
In August 2019 they have launched their meal plans. Personally I’ve been on it for a few weeks and have experienced fat loss and have seen major differences in my overall body composition. So I cannot recommend it enough. You can check their Instagram for more info about prices.
The owners, Henem and Matt, are my friends so if you happen to bump into them tell them you are friends of Teresa.
If you are craving authentic Balinese or Indonesian dishes then Warung Yess is the place to go. They offer a variety of meals both from à la carte and buffet. When you order from the buffet you can choose from a wide selection of what you want to eat and you will be charged by the weight of your plate.
The warrung has a very nice setting with few tables back in the garden. It is very cozy with friendly staff. When there you have to try Nasi Campur and sticky rice with mango for dessert. They also have a very good coffee.
WHERE TO STAY IN PERERENAN?
LUXURY – Shore Amora Canggu – is ultimately the best place to stay in Pererenan! You would hardly find a place like this in this area. Located with only a few minutes from the Pererenan beach it is a perfect place to stay for surfers. All rooms come fully equipped including mini-fridge and private bathroom. In addition, there is a bar, garden, outdoor pool, and sun terrace on-site. In the morning, you can indulge in continental breakfast or order from à la carte.
MID-PRICE – Premier Surf Camp – is a great place to stay in Pererenan! Located near the beach makes this a perfect place to stay for surfers! The Premier Surf Camp features private rooms with a terrace with garden or rice field views and en suite bathroom. Some rooms come with flat-screen cable TV and a mini-fridge. Additionally, there are pool and restaurant on-site where you can socialize with others. Moreover, breakfast is being served on-site.
BUDGET – Andy’s Surf Villa & Bungalows – is a great place for those on a budget. The bedrooms are simple and in Balinese decor. There are a closet and a private bathroom. Most importantly, it near the Pererenan beach.
CANGGU RESTAURANTS – UMALAS
Even though we list Kembali in the Ultimate List of Best Restaurants in Canggu it is not necessarily in Canggu. It is in Umalas, only 5 min drive from Berawa through Umalas shortcut. So technically it is in Canggu.
The reason why we list it here is that it has a chilled and cozy vibe. Plus on Friday’s the whole food menu is 50% off! Yes, you hear right! Tho you might wanna double-check with the staff if the offer is still on before you order 😉.
Kembali has the same owners as Nude, so the menu is similar but not the same. Like Nude, it is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, you can choose from a wide selection of healthy bowls and savory meals such as charcoal bagel, omelet, break burger and more. If you are having sweet tooth you can go for a waffle or a pancake.
Both for lunch and dinner you can choose from burgers, bowls, and salads. For dinner, you can also have beef steak, seared tuna and many more. Our favorite is the beefsteak. It is so good, so balanced.
KUNTI III SUSHI
Kunti III is my go-to place whenever I have sushi cravings. It is one of the best sushi places in Bali and trust me I’ve tried a fair share. All of their sushi is fresh and reasonably priced. The restaurant has a very cozy setting but is relatively small. However, they provide an excellent service. My personal favorite is sushi sashimi mix comprising of 6 nigiri sushi, 12 sashimi, and 6 maki sushi. So freaking tasty.
Try GO-JEKing the sushi via go-food if you don’t feel like going to the restaurant. Actually, that’s what I do most of the time.
ADDRESS: Jl. Raya Anyar
PHONE: +62 (0) 361 8475321
OPEN: 11am – 11pm
La Casetta in Umalas is one of my favorite Italian places on the island. Because all of their dishes are authentic. And in addition, all of their pizza dough and pasta is made from scratch with the best ingredients. They offer a wide selection of meals ranging from pizzas, to salads, seafood, and meat. My favorite is defo calamari alla griglia and filetto di manzo alla griglia. Besides that, I also love spinaci burro e parmagiano. If you’re craving pizza or pasta and are GF intolerant then I’ve got good news for you, they offer GF options.
CANGGU RESTAURANT APPS YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE
GO-JEK app is an absolute must! Honestly, I can’t imagine being in Bali and not using the app! Personally I use it every day! It’s a lifesaver! Via GO-JEK you can easily order food from your favorite restaurants and have it delivered right to your front door.
Besides food delivery, GO-JEK can get done for you so much more. However, be aware that for all the services you need to pay in cash.
GO-JEK is usually cheaper than GRAB. However, I advise you to have both just in case. You can download the GO-JEK app and GRAB app easily from App Store or Google Play on your phone. I highly advise you to use an Indonesian phone number as oftentimes you need to be online to communicate with the driver.
GRAB is another app that you must have in your arsenal. It in 2018 took over UBER Southeast Asian operations. Similarly, as GO-JEK you can order food for delivery. However, personally I prefer GO-JEK. Be aware that for all the services you need to pay in cash!
You can download the GO-JEK app and GRAB app easily from App Store or Google Play on your phone. I highly advise you to use an Indonesian phone number as oftentimes you need to be online to communicate with the driver.
GU GUIDE APP
GU GUIDE is a great app with numerous discounts and offers that can be claimed in Canggu. You can claim rewards such as free coffee in multiple cafes and restaurants in Canggu, free AMO spa day pass with purchase of any treatment, free unlimited yoga & fitness day pass in Odyssey MVMT, free pool entry & towel hire at Alternative Beach and many more. Pretty cool, don’t you think? My all-time favorite is defo free AMO spa day pass with any treatment. Amongst the treatments I like is head and shoulder massage which is my favorite, gel mani, and regular pedi.
