If you’re like me, a foodie, then chances are high you’re looking for the best Bukit and Uluwatu restaurant. Well, then my friend you’re in luck because Bali is food heaven. And I’m not exaggerating. There are so many amazing places to eat out. Also in terms of food, it might be the most Instagrammable place on Earth. With so many healthy options that are just Instagram ready. Hence, it can be a hustle to choose where to eat.
However, unlike places like Canggu, Seminyak, and Ubud, Bukit and Uluwatu are still undergoing culinary development. Hence, the selection is compared to its northern counterparts not as wide. Nonetheless, there are still plenty of kickass restaurants out there.
Suka Espresso is another great and one of my favorite places in Uluwatu. It’s pretty much the perfect place for any time of day. For example, they have amazing wraps, grilled tuna steak, chicken quesadilla, and great chia pudding. They also offer GF and vegan options. It’s definitely worth giving it a go.
Single Fin is my favorite place. Both during daytime and nighttime. Essentially it is more than just a Uluwatu restaurant, it is also a great party place. Especially, on Wednesday and Sunday nights.
It sits on top of the epic Uluwatu Cliff with the best views of the Indian Ocean and the world-famous Uluwatu surf break. They have one of the best burgers in Bukit as well as a wide selection of bites including salads, fish and chips, pizza, pasta, and nachos.
I highly recommend you to come there during the day to watch surfers rip waves or during the golden hour to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets Bali has to offer. However, GF and vegan options might be an issue.

COCO & POKE
Coco & Poke housed within Uluwatu’s famed Single Fin offers Hawaiian style poke bowls with a selection of toppings and salad goodies. A great option if you are enjoying yourself with friends at Single Fin but want to opt for a healthy gluten-free and vegan option like me. Aside from poke bowls they also offer vegan-friendly coconut whip.
La Baracca is an authentic Italian restaurant with one of the best pizzas on the island. Maybe why their pizzas taste so damn good is that they make them in wood-fire. Aside from pizza, they offer house-made pasta, carpaccio, meat, and salads. Be sure to try their tuna tataki. It is so good. Moreover, they offer GF options.
WHERE TO STAY IN ULUWATU?
LUXURY – De Sapphire Cliff Villa by Danapati – is one of the best places to stay in Uluwatu area. The suites and villas come with a living room, dining area, and private bathroom all very well equipped. Some of the suites come with a garden or sea view. Moreover, there’s a De’Bar-ongs restaurant on-site where you can indulge in American, Chinese, Indonesian and Mexican cuisine.
MID-PRICE – Puri Uluwatu Villas – is surfers’ favorite place to stay as the Uluwatu surf break is just 5-minute stroll. The Balinese styled rooms are spacious and quiet and feature an AC and a private bathroom. On top of this, the place has a stunning view of the Uluwatu surf break and the Indian Ocean. Moreover, you can enjoy a continental breakfast on-site with vegetarian and vegan options available.
BUDGET – Ayodhya Uluwatu – a great option for those on budget. The rooms are simple but yet cozy. The place is quiet. All rooms come with a seating area, satellite TV and a private bathroom. Additionally, there’s a shared swimming pool on the premises.
The best place to eat out in Uluwatu is Cashew Tree in Bingin. Honestly, it is one of the best Uluwatu restaurant. The restaurant has an awesome chilled vibe and the food is so delicious. Besides, they have gluten-free (GF) and vegan options, which is perfect. Their coffee is very good and it comes with a small piece of banana bread which might be the best banana bread you ever had. Plus they have a fridge at the cashier filled with all the GF and vegan goodies, such as muffins, cupcakes, chocolate, coconut yogurt, etc. Oh and I’ve almost forgotten they have the best vegan ice cream too. This means a lot coming from me as I’m not really big on ice cream, but really it is to die for.
THE LOFT ULUWATU
Another awesome place is The Loft. After success in Canggu, they have branched out to Uluwatu, which was a great move. It is a long-needed addition to Uluwatu restaurant culinary scene. It’s my go-to place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With their to die for Vida Bowl, Vegan Waffles and Acai Bowl they are bringing a taste of Brazil to Bali. Moreover, they too have GF and vegan options. It’s also a great place if you wanna go just for a coffee or get some shit done. To sum it up, The Loft is mixing a great and chilled vibe with minimal design.
LUCKY FISH BARBECUE
Bingin Beach has easily one of the best seafood barbecue places on the island. You can find Lucky Fish barbecue right on the beach. It is approx. 10 minute walk down the stairs from the car park.
They have a variety of fish, octopus, shrimps, calamari/squid, and mussels/clams. Most importantly you can choose your seafood right from large boxes and they will weight it and grill it in front of you. I find it very cool and romantic. On average the price per 100g is 30k IDR, obviously, mussels/clams will be slightly more expensive. However, the price is still very reasonable concerning that it comes with veggies, rice, and sauces. Plus all of it is so yummy.
The best time to go is during the golden hour. There is nothing better than to sit on the beach, eat seafood and watch those picture-perfect Bali sunsets.

DRIFTER SURF CAFE
On your way to Padang Padang and Uluwatu you can find famous Drifter Surf cafe, situated in a peaceful garden. It offers a range of delicious yet healthy dishes all day round. For instance, they offer breakkie plates such as smoothie bowls and GF padang pancake stack. While during night time they offer burgers, poke bowls and seafood. All very tasty. Moreover, they have GF and vegan options.
The infamous Nalu Bowls is the perfect breakfast place as all of their smoothie bowls are so tasty. Moreover, all of their smoothie bowls are made of exotic tropical fruits topped with homemade crunchy granola. Word of advice try their Uluwatu Bowl with dragon fruit, banana and raspberries and a bit of apple juice. It is to die for.
Bukit Cafe with its modern western cuisine is ideal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can find smoothie bowls, chia pudding, fajitas, burgers, seafood, salads on their menu as well as daily specials. Moreover, they offer GF and vegan options. Talking about vegan food, they have a wide selection of vegan sweets displayed in their fridge.
Shaka Riki is the best sushi place in Uluwatu. Both the owner and the chef are Japanese so their authentic sushi is always fresh and very tasty. Besides that the place ha a great atmosphere and very friendly staff. On top of that I love the wet hand towels and complimentary miso soup and peanuts. Try their Spicy Tuna & Avocado and Tuna Poke Salad. So yummy.
WHERE TO STAY IN BINGIN?
LUXURY – Radisson Blu Bali Uluwatu – is a great place to stay if you are not traveling on a budget! The rooms are very beautiful with all the modern amenities. All rooms have a private bathroom with a hot tub and free toiletries. The resort has many perks on-site such as fitness gym, yoga studio, and spa and wellness center on-site. Moreover, you can enjoy continental breakfast with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and halal options.
MID-PRICE – Le Cliff Bali – is after Dreamsea Bali the second-best place to stay in Bingin! Such a lovely place with modern decor with a slight twist of boho! The sea view from the room is incredible! When you sleep you can hear the ocean and waves in the background! It is so soothing and relaxing! When you sit on your balcony/terrace you can feel the breeze touching your face and playing with your hair! It is so cozy it will make you feel like you are home!
LOW-BUDGET – Kubu Bingin – Geko Room – experience authentic and simple beach living with this simple beach house. Featuring one shower and two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two single beds. However, one of the downsides is that none of the bedrooms is equipped with an AC. But it has a terrace with sea view.
Secret Spot is the place to go if you want a really good coffee. It is not your everyday Uluwatu restaurant as it is more a cafe. Essentially, it is the place to go when you are craving cheap and yummy smoothie bowl, great cakes or tasty vegan nutty balls. Their Wi-Fi is fast and often it is quite making it a great place to be productive. However, sometimes it gets crowded with Russian moms and their spoiled brats who just can’t seem to stop screaming. Yes, you might have guessed I’m not a big fan of that. I like my peace and quiet.
Casa Asia with its two branches, one in Ungasan and one in Bingin, might easily be the best Uluwatu restaurant with Italian cuisine in Bukit. Their pizza is fucking great and their reasonably priced beef carpaccio is to die for. That being said, they could do a better job with their salads, omelets, and pancakes. Also, they should introduce more gluten-free (GF) and vegan options into their menu.
El Merkat near Pecatu is one of a few Uluwatu restaurant with Spanish cuisine. It’s ideal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner offering a variety of sandwiches, rolls, salads, cured meat, cheese, fresh juices, and smoothies. Moreover, their orange & cinnamon ice tea is just heaven. It is my favorite ice tea of all time. It is so tasty and refreshing. Nonetheless, make sure to tell them no sugar tho.
Their breakfast menu consists of croissants, toasts, sandwiches, smoothie and fruit bowls, and different styles of eggs. Additionally, they have expanded on GF and vegan options lately. Moreover, next door is their Deli with a wide assortment of wine, cheese, cured meat, bakery, kombucha, oil, coffee and such.

BUDGET – Ocho Bali Surf Camp – is ultimately the best place to stay in Bukit when you are on a slightly tight budget. It is such a peaceful and relaxing place! Go for the Bungalow as they tend to be nicer and have a great view of the garden and pool. The palm trees around the pool provide shades during the hot days and are so typical of Bali! There is breakfast on the premises. It is always fresh and very delicious. And whenever you are hungry the cook can whip up something for you as he stays till late at night.
Other useful features a restaurant, a garden, a bar, and a shared lounge.
Smoothie Shop is a little hidden gem that you can find on your way to Balangan Beach. It is one of a few truly vegan Uluwatu restaurants. It is the ultimate vegan heaven and a perfect place for breakfast or snack, not so ideal for lunch tho as their portions are relatively small leaving you feeling hungry. Like my other favorite places, they have GF and vegan options.
As the name implies they hold a wide selection of cold press juices, smoothies, and smoothie bowls. Apart from these they also offer other meals such as fajitas, living lasagna, raw vegan pizza, etc. None of these have meat inside and adding meat is not an option so not the best place for meat-eaters. They have good coffee and plant-based milk is not an issue.
If you happen to head their way make sure you get here before 4 pm as they’re closing at 4 pm.

BUDGET – Absolute Beachfront Balangan Apartments – is a great place if you are on a tight budget, but want to be based on the beachfront overlooking the surf break and the Indian Ocean. The rooms are modest but equipped with AC and a wardrobe. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are shared.
ULUWATU RESTAURANT APPS YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE
GO-JEK appis an absolute must! Honestly, I can’t imagine being in Bali and not using the app! Personally I use it every day! It’s a lifesaver! Via GO-JEK you can easily order food from your favorite restaurants and have it delivered right to your front door.
Besides food delivery, GO-JEK can get done for you so much more. However, be aware that for all the services you need to pay in cash.
GO-JEK is usually cheaper than GRAB. However, I advise you to have both just in case. You can download the GO-JEK app and GRAB app easily from App Store or Google Play on your phone. I highly advise you to use an Indonesian phone number as oftentimes you need to be online to communicate with the driver.
GRAB is another app that you must have in your arsenal. Itin 2018 took over UBER Southeast Asian operations. Similarly, as GO-JEK you can order food for delivery. However, personally I prefer GO-JEK. Be aware that for all the services you need to pay in cash!
You can download the GO-JEK app and GRAB app easily from App Store or Google Play on your phone. I highly advise you to use an Indonesian phone number as oftentimes you need to be online to communicate with the driver.
