Hey there, I’m Teresa and I have an enormous love for traveling and sports.
I come from Prague, the Czech Republic, where I have lived most of my life. Well with a few exceptions. 😉 Now I call Bali my home. I love skiing, mountains, and ocean. I’m very passionate about CrossFit so much so that one day I want to compete. But don’t be mistaken though I love other sports too.
MY SPORT BACKGROUND
Sport is literally in my blood. Ever since I was a little kid my mom and dad would teach me how to swim, ski, ride a bike, run, etc. At the age of six or seven I was taking gymnastics classes, but it lasted for around a year or so. The coaches told my parents I was too tall for gymnastics and that I’d be better off with another sport. I wonder if it was their way of saying I was shit at gymnastics? 🤷🏼♀️ Well, I’ll never know for sure.
Anyways, I started playing basketball and when I was twelve I had to choose between an art school and sports school. Guess which one I chose? Yeah, you most likely guessed it right. I did choose a sports school and was assigned to a basketball class. My basketball team outside of school was doing fairly well. We went to different international competitions, which was fun and I got to see different countries.
Throughout my teenage years, I would be a tomboy running around riding a bike, hitting slopes on a snowboard and playing basketball and football with guys. Always, trying to keep up with them. During that time, I had a fair amount of injuries, which consequently had an impact on how I perceived sports. After particularly one serious injury from snowboarding I started to be a bit more careful and I slowly withdrew from jumps, trick, and rails. I tried to incorporate them back in my 20’s when I switched to freestyle skiing, but I wasn’t really feeling it. So now I just do, what I like to call, baby jumps and rails.
Besides freestyle skiing I love off-piste skiing, ie. freeride skiing. There’s nothing like fresh deep pow and the feeling of absolute freedom and the realization that it is ultimately just you and nature and how small you actually are. In the past few years, I’ve been more and more drawn to ski touring. I just love the feeling of being out in the open and feeling connected with nature and reaching places not easily accessible to others. That’s ultimately one of the best feelings ever.
In additions to winter sports, I do CrossFit throughout the whole year. It is definitely one of my greatest passions. I love how varied and functional the WODs are. How it incorporates different elements ranging from weightlifting and powerlifting to HIIT, running, gymnastics, plyometrics, calisthenics, strongman and many more. It really challenges you and makes you learn new skill sets and grow as an athlete. However, sometimes in the middle of WODs, I’m asking myself why am I doing it and why am I putting myself through so much pain. I always find my answer at the end of the WOD. When I have this feeling of ultimate happiness.
MY LIFE CHANGING DECISION
There’s nothing in the world that makes me happier than spending time with my loved ones, traveling and being active. That’s why in mid-2018 I started out on a journey, a journey not many people understood. Haha yes, you might have guessed it, especially my parents 🙈. I quit my well paid 9-5 job, well to be fair it’s been more than 9-5 job and I was miserable as fuck and started working online. But I’m not gonna lie to you. Ever since then it’s been a hustle, with ups and downs.
The reasons why I made these moves were I knew there had to be more to life than just to wake up in the morning, get some workout in, sit in a cubicle, go back home, if lucky have time to meet with friends or spend a little bit of time with my boyfriend before bedtime, go sleep and then repeat. Oh and maybe have a weekend to myself and travel adventures and sports activities. I wanted to see and explore the world, to do sports, to learn, to grow, to have freedom, to be my own boss, to live my life to the fullest and above all to be happy.
WHY I STARTED FIT WANDERLUSTERS
I started this blog to show you all the wonderful places that are out there. To inspire you and to encourage you to explore the world, to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle and to choose happiness. I want you to experience what I experience and this travel & sports blog is my way of doing just that.
